SUNNYSIDE HISTORY

1893: Henry Lueders founds his kerosene and oil distribution company, and sells his wares from a horse-drawn carriage on the Northside of Chicago.

1920: H. Lueders & Company changes its name to Sunnyside Oil Company and expands to a new location in northwest Chicago.

1928: Sunnyside begins to release its top-of-the-line products in consumer friendly packaging with its signature yellow and black graphics theme.

1936: Sunnyside expands again, purchasing property with bulk tanks, small buildings and rail siding.

1950: The company begins selling at national hardware retailers including Ace and True Value.

1962: Sunnyside’s packaging becomes more robust and includes new colors and graphics.

Sunnyside Product packaging gets a  redesign in 1962.

1976: Sunnyside builds new plant in Wheeling, IL.

1986: Sunnyside expands nationally and opens four distribution centers in Portland, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and New York.

SUNNYSIDE today

Today, under the leadership of Robert Lueders, the great-grandson of company founder, Sunnyside continues to aggressively move into new markets, expand its customer base and introduce new products.

Sunnyside continues to improve and expanded its manufacturing facility, with significant on-going capital investment in automated equipment and high-speed filling lines.

Sunnyside’s main manufacturing and distribution facility is centrally located in Wheeling Illinois. Sunnyside also has a distribution center in Southern California, facilitating timely shipments throughout the Western United States, Canada and Mexico.
